Being creative is not a hobby - It is a way of life!

I grew up in upstate New York, but I currently reside in Atlanta, GA with my kids, Chloe and Cade. Currently, for my day job I am an IT executive. My goal in life is to be able to be an artist full-time.... someday!

I grew up in an artsy family. My dad has done sculpture, water color and acrylic painting. As a child we went to all the local arts and crafts festivals. I attended summer art camps and art classes at our local college. The older I get - the more my love of the arts has deepened.

My main passion was originally in paper crafts - scrapbooking, stamping, card making, etc. I love photography, genealogy and journaling - so scrapbooking was a wonderful outlet for me. I am obsessed with patterned papers. I buy them sometimes for no other reason - except they are pretty! My love of fibers, buttons, ribbons and other embellishments has taken my creativity up a notch. I was a consultant with Close to My Heart for many years.

Then back in 2000, I was on a trip to Hampton, MA with my two best friends from college and they took me to a bead store. I made my first necklace. My new obsession became beads. I go to bead stores and bead shows and just buy beautiful beads. One day I decided I needed to do something with all the beads that were piling up in my craft room! I started Designs by Dawn Rene. I also sell my work at local arts festivals and craft fairs.

Life is good!
